Use of health tests on applicants

The use of health tests on applicants is common practice in many countries and a quarter of Danfoss’ companies apply health tests as a result of either legislative requirements or at the request of insurance companies or employees themselves.

The latter is the case in China where the employees are tested each year for a certain kind of contagious lung disease.
Danfoss is aware that health tests imply a risk of discrimination. Therefore all companies that make use of recruitment agencies must set guidelines as to the kind of questions the agencies can ask applicants, which diseases they can test for and what feedback can be given to the applicant.

Eight companies – all of which are production companies – use drug tests in connection with recruitments: six American, one Slovenian and one Mexican. The main reason for this is the wish to obtain a safe working environment.

Corporate Citizenship

Danfoss’ overall goal within Corporate Citizenship is "keeping our own house in order".
This applies to employees, so that they have an attractive workplace and a healthy work-ing environment. It applies to the environment, where Danfoss products contribute to energy savings, and where the environmental impact of their production is constantly being reduced.
And it applies, in a broad sense, to social and ethical responsibility.
Efforts are continually being intensified, because when employee satisfaction is high, consumption of resources is as low as possible, and the company’s ethics and reputation are good, the result is a positive effect on the accounting bottom line.
